MapInfo MapX

MapInfo MapX is an Active X Component enabling developers to embed mapping functionality to any application in the most cost-effective manner using object-oriented languages such as Visual Basic, Visual C++ or Delphi.

The majority of mapping functionality found in MapInfo Professional can be ported to other application using the MapX SDK. Unlike programs written by MapBasic, MapX components are self-contained and do not need to run on top of MapInfo Professional. MapX is particularly suitable for applications that require a robust mapping component but do not need all the functionalities of MapInfo Professional and are targeted for a great number of users. Every embedded MapX component does require the purchase of an electronic license but its cost is only a small fraction of MapInfo Professional.
